The Opus-Two Stand-Alone Products allow existing organs that are not equipped with the Opus-Two ICS to have access to some of the features offered in the Integrated Control System (ICS).  Opus-Two is extremely flexible and doesn’t have to run an entire organ – it can do parts of the job by assembling the necessary parts, programming, and wiring them.

When we build the systems and ship them, detailed installation instructions are included to assist the organ builder with product installation.  The cards come panel-mounted and pre-wired – simply wire the senses and supply power.  The display unit connects back to the junction panel with our DisplayBus 3 wire connection.

 

Stand-Alone Crescendo-Tutti Action

The Crescendo-Tutti Unit (CTU for short) includes a dedicated VFD display and all necessary software/hardware to make the functions work with ANY control system.  Polarity can be set ahead of time to either polarity.  The system also can use the built in reversible engines should pistons (or momentary buttons) be used to turn the tuttis on or off.

 

Stand-Alone Combination Action

Opus-Two stand-alone combination actions can provide all the features of an integrated combination action, including high speed piston response.  The moment a piston is pressed, the Opus-Two combination action will energize the stop signals feeding the relay before the tablets or drawknobs even begin to move.  This is all accomplished using our standard components and standard software. These stand-alone combination actions can easily also do expression management/coupling, crescendo, tutti, etc.

 

Stand-Alone Pedal Divide Processor

The Pedal Divide Unit (PDU for short) includes a dedicated VFD display and all necessary software/hardware to make the function work with ANY control system.  The unit can be built to support positive-common and negative-common stop controls or key controls, and has a built in reversible engine should a piston (or momentary button) be used to turn the function on or off.   Pedal Divide Position is typically stored in a set of stops in the existing combination.  Only 8 stop spaces are needed in the general memory to store all the features of the PDU on general pistons (feature on/off and pedal divide position).  No special interface boards need to be provided by the C/A manufacturer – Opus-Two connects to the existing sense and coil wiring.  If the existing combination action is not capable of controlling 8 additional stops (for whatever reason), the PDU has a built-in combination action capable of storing divide points across a nearly-unlimited number of pistons in a nearly-unlimited number of memory levels.

Detailed installation instructions are included to assist the organ builder with product installation.  The cards come panel-mounted and pre-wired: simply wire the keying and supply power.  The display unit and control buttons connect back to the card panel with our simple 3 wire connection.

The most recent revisions to this unit have significantly cut cost and have made the unit available for even more customers.

Technical Information:

The relay manufacturer must change the relay to allow two different sets of pedal keys.  The first set drives keying to the stops in the pedal division.  The second set of keying drives the “to pedal” couplers.  This is most commonly accomplished by other relay vendors by defining the “to Pedal” couplers as “to Solo” (or some other unused keyboard) and then treating the coupler/pedal keys as a “Solo” keyboard.  If the relay manufacturer is incapable of making this change, we can provide key outputs to parallel to each keyboard’s bottom 44 inputs.

If an external C/A is used, an additional 8 stops must be added to the hardware/software as if you were adding 8 stop action magnets.  You can, in fact, simply tell the manufacturer that you are adding 8 additional drawknobs or stop tablets.  Opus-Two reads and writes to those inputs/outputs to “fool” the combination action into thinking that real tabs are attached.

Range: If manually setting the divide point, the divide point can be set to any pedal from C#1 – F#3.  To set the pedal divide point manually, simply hold the first note you wish to be in the upper split and press the “Pd Div Set” button.  The divide point is then set, and will save to any general pistons.

To Freeze the Pedal Divide Point at its current location (preventing auto-changes or changes from pistons), press the “Freeze” button.  The display will update to indicate the divide point is frozen.
